Stopping illicit massage businesses in Scottsdale requires more than restrictive ordinances

In the wake of a law enforcement crackdown in Mesa, Arizona on facilities being used as a front for massage therapy, many valley residents are wondering if other local communities are experiencing a similar problem. While Mesa is crafting legislation to prevent illicit “massage parlors”, cities such as Scottsdale already have strict massage ordinances in place. In an interview on October 19, 2009, one Scottsdale day spa owner, however, says the Scottsdale massage ordinance does little to prevent illegal activities.
